“ A beautiful visit must do on top of the Gran Sasso mountain. A National park reserve. The signature Abruzzo Arrosticini grilled by yourself. Very enjoyable walk either before or after the food. My regular place for walk and eat ”
“ This place is really cool but VERY different. It's not a traditional restaurant. You basically buy a bunch of food, especially meat and they have rows of charcoal grills you can cook the meat on. There is someone to help. Add salt!!! We also bought bread and cheese to go with the food. Lots of others bought wine but we were driving. The restaurant is in the middle of the valley floor surrounded by mountains. There are tons of picnic tables you can sit and relax and eat at. Cash only! We spent about $30 and had lots of food left over. The staff was helpful since we didn't know what we were doing although the people behind us were annoyed. ”
“ We love bringing our friends here for lunch, as this is a very unique "dining experience"! Service appears to be slow, but given the sheer volume of Arrosticini, sausages, bread, cheese, salami and drinks they are serving it's pretty good. Besides it's great to have a chat to the people you are standing in line with. For those who have not been here before, pack an umbrella and something to tie it to the table with, as the sun and heat can be very strong. You can bring your own cold drinks and other picnic items of food to go with your Arrosticini. The Arrosticini cost us €1 per stick. As a rough guide 10 sticks per person is OK, but we buy 25 to 30 sticks for my wife and I, only because we love them so much. You do not need lots of coals to cook with, too much and the wooden sticks catch fire and your meat will fall into the coals! Make sure to put some salt on after you have cooked one side of your Arrosticini. Enjoy this simple yet delicious food of Abruzzo! ”
